Experience the Legendary Wuyi Mountain in a Cup

Nestled within the mist-shrouded, dramatic cliffs of China’s Wuyi Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies the birthplace of some of the world’s most revered teas. The unique mineral-rich soil, known as “rock bone,” imparts an unmistakable character to the leaves grown here—a depth and complexity known as “Yan Yun” or rock rhyme.

From this hallowed ground, we present a tea that embodies both elegance and power. This Wuyi Rock Tea Gift Set features the exquisite Shui Xian Oolong Tea, renowned for its enchanting natural orchid fragrance. Each 168g box is filled with carefully selected whole leaves, offering a total of 336g for extended exploration or sharing.

Shui Xian: The “Water Sprite” with Orchid Charm

Shui Xian Oolong Tea, whose name translates poetically to “Water Sprite” or “Narcissus,” is one of the most cherished cultivars from the Wuyi region. It is celebrated for its remarkable aging potential and its signature aromatic profile.

This particular Orchid Aroma Oolong showcases the classic characteristics of a well-crafted Shui Xian. The tea bushes, nurtured by the rocky Wuyi terrain, absorb minerals that create a robust foundation, beautifully balanced by a high, floral fragrance reminiscent of fresh orchids—a true testament to its Wuyi Mountain origin.

The Art of Crafting Rock Tea

Producing authentic Wuyi Rock Tea is a labor of patience and skill. After precise plucking, the leaves undergo controlled oxidation followed by traditional charcoal roasting. This meticulous process enhances the natural floral notes of the Shui Xian while developing a warm, toasty undertone and locking in the coveted mineral “rock rhyme.”

The result is a tea with remarkable layers that unfold over many infusions, making it a favorite among Gongfu tea ceremony practitioners.

Tasting Journey: From Aroma to Aftertaste

Prepare for a multi-sensory experience that reveals itself slowly.

Dry Leaf & Fragrance

The leaves are dark, tightly twisted strips with a slight gloss. The dry aroma is complex, offering notes of roasted nuts, dried orchids, and a distinct, clean mineral scent—the first hint of its rocky origin.

The Brew & Liquor Color

When brewed with hot water, the leaves unfurl, releasing an intense and captivating aroma. The liquor pours a clear, bright amber-gold, inviting and luminous.

Flavor Profile & Mouthfeel

The first sip is surprisingly smooth and rounded. The prominent floral sweetness, characteristic of this Orchid Aroma Oolong, is immediately apparent, followed by a subtle honeyed note. As the tea settles, a distinct mineral backbone emerges—the signature “Yan Yun” of a true Wuyi Rock Tea. The finish is clean, sweet, and remarkably long-lasting, with the floral fragrance lingering in the cup and the throat.

This Shui Xian Oolong Tea offers excellent durability. High-quality leaves like these can yield 6-8 or more flavorful infusions, with the profile gracefully evolving from intensely floral to deeply mineral and sweet.

Brewing Guide: Unlock the Perfect Cup

To fully appreciate its complexity, we recommend the Gongfu brewing method.

1. Vessel & Tea: Use a 100-150ml gaiwan or Yixing teapot. Add 5-7 grams of tea leaves.
2. Water: Use fresh, filtered water heated to 95-100°C (203-212°F).
3. Warm & Rinse: Preheat your vessel. Add leaves, pour hot water to cover them, and immediately pour off this rinse to awaken the leaves.
4. Steeping Times:
   • 1st infusion: 10-15 seconds.
   • 2nd-4th infusion: 8-12 seconds each.
   • Subsequent infusions: Gradually increase by 5-10 seconds.
5. Enjoy: Savor the changing character with each steep.

Western Style Brewing

For a simpler approach: Use 3 grams of tea per 200ml of near-boiling water. Steep for 3-4 minutes. Suitable for 2-3 good infusions.

This is not a fairy tales tea , it’s a wuyi rock tea which promises of all the rock tea characters . Deep ,bold ,smoky , woody and spicy, mineral combination…. , golden tea soups that will last with flavors during many steeps . If you yearning for all the kicks in the tea , this is the right one to get . Won’t be disappointed. Fast steeping is the key to get the best intense flavor aroma without the over burning aftertaste. Good start for a tea conversation to me .
